What is Retail Marketing and How Does it Affect the Shopping Experience?

Retail marketing is the process of promoting a retailer’s products or services to potential customers. The goal is to generate increased sales, or “lift,” through various channels.

In today's society, there are many different types of retail marketing that are used. Some examples include: advertising in traditional media such as TV and radio, outdoor advertising such as billboards and posters, direct mail campaigns, email campaigns and social media campaigns.

Retailers use these different marketing techniques to communicate their messages in a variety of ways with their target audience. For example: a billboard might be used to reach out to those who drive past it on the highway while an email campaign may be more appropriate for reaching out to those who have visited the retailer's website before.
